The Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Studies (CIMAS) of the University of Miami invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate. The role involves validating and improving numerical model forecasts from the Hurricane Analysis and Forecast System (HAFS), including improvements to model physics—especially boundary-layer and convective physics—and comparisons with relevant observational datasets. The associate will analyze and interpret results, present findings at scientific meetings, and publish results in scientific journals. The work will be conducted in close collaboration with scientists in the Hurricane Research Division (HRD) at NOAA’s Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory (AOML).
