About The Position

The Rajagopalan lab seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. The postdoctoral associate will bring expertise in biomaterials and tissue engineering and will design 3D tissues and organoids, manage data, and disseminate scientific results.

The primary focus is assembling engineered tissues and organoids using new biomaterial approaches and induced pluripotent stem-cell-based methodologies. The position offers opportunities to collaborate with AI/ML researchers and biologists in the NSF COMPASS center.

Requirements

• PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field. The PhD must have been awarded no more than four years before the appointment’s effective date, with at least one year of eligibility remaining.
• Background and knowledge in tissue engineering or organoid development.
• Background and knowledge in biomaterials.
• Background in cell-based methodologies.
• Track record of scientific productivity and publications.
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, and bend for extended periods and to wear personal protective equipment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with induced pluripotent stem cells.
• Prior experience in multidisciplinary projects.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate with investigators in other disciplines.
