A postdoctoral position is available in a research group studying the association between plants and arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi. AM fungi are mutualistic endosymbionts of plants. Their hyphae inhabit both the root cortex and the soil, where they interact with complex microbial communities. The project will investigate how plant genotype influences microbial community composition, use high-resolution spatial mapping to characterize the spatial structure of hypha-associated microbial communities, and analyze community functions. The position is at the Boyce Thompson Institute, a non-profit research institute affiliated with Cornell University and located on the Cornell University campus in Ithaca, New York. Successful applicants must show proof of full vaccination by an FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccine before beginning employment unless an exemption is granted as an accommodation or otherwise. BTI provides equal employment opportunities and prohibits discrimination and harassment. The institute describes its policies as family-friendly and is committed to supporting staff career success and work-life balance.
