About The Position

The Post Heart Transplant outpatient team is looking for an Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (APP) to join their team! This role involves providing comprehensive patient care in the outpatient clinical setting at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus. The APP will work closely with a multidisciplinary team. The position includes 12 weeks of onboarding. Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program.
• Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Virginia.
• Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required.
• BLS and ACLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice.
• For Nurse Practitioners: Master’s Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required.
• For Nurse Practitioners: License to practice as a Registered Nurse required.
• For Nurse Practitioners: Certification in practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required.
• For Physician Assistants: Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required.
• Demonstrate appropriate critical thinking and interpersonal skills when working in a fasted paced, high acuity work environment.
• VA License.
• Certification - Basic Life Support prior to start.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (for Critical Care) upon start.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (for Pediatrics) upon start.
• Licensure - Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
• If Nurse Practitioner: RN Compact License (depending on State of primary residence).
• If Nurse Practitioner: A license (or eligibility for) as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• If Nurse Practitioner: A "Practice Agreement" signed by sponsoring/ supervising physician(s).
• If Nurse Practitioner: A written "Scope of Practice/Protocol" signed by the supervising physician.
• If Nurse Practitioner: "Drug Enforcement Administration License" (if prescribing controlled substances).

Nice To Haves

• APP experience preferred.
• Prior transplant and/or cardiology experience preferred.
• ACNP, AGACNP certification preferred based on population served.
• Master’s Degree preferred for Physician Assistants.
• Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred.
• EPIC experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive patient care in the outpatient clinical setting.
• Work closely with a multidisciplinary team.
• Provide outpatient coverage at Inova's Post Heart Transplant Clinic at Fairfax Medical Campus.
• Handle rotating on-call duties for patient phone calls 24/7.
• Perform a thorough history and physical assessment.
