Positive Support Specialist with 2500 Hiring Bonus
About The Position
Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSS) is hiring Positive Support Specialists for its Intensive Community Residential Services (ICRS) programs. These specialized, community-based programs support individuals with intensive medical, behavioral, and mental health needs in the most integrated setting possible. Using a person-centered approach, specialists help individuals work toward their goals while considering the safety of the people supported, team members, and the community. Consistency and routine are important to the programs’ success. Specialists support individuals at home and in the community so they can participate in meaningful events and activities. The position pays $20 per hour and offers a $2,500 hiring bonus to eligible employees.
Requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a variety of individuals.
- Ability to stand, squat, bend, or walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- At least 1–2 years of experience working with people with complex needs.
- Clearance through a Bureau of Criminal Affairs (BCA) background study.
- Valid driver's license and successful Motor Vehicle Check (MVR).

- 3–5 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
- Support individuals in becoming more independent with essential life skills, including meal preparation, personal hygiene, and navigating the community.
- Advocate for individuals regarding their rights, medical care, and participation in the community.
- Complete required documentation and record-keeping each shift.
- Manage crisis situations safely and effectively, which may include the potential use of manual restraints.
- Engage in trauma-informed care on a daily basis.
- Work scheduled shifts and remain up to date on required training to qualify for the hiring bonus.
