About The Position

The Portfolio Manager underwrites credit exposure for less complex relationships and actively manages a portfolio of Dealer Services relationships. The role includes day-to-day client interaction, portfolio risk management, and adherence to regulatory and compliance guidelines. A critical component is early identification of emerging credit concerns, sector trends, funding pressures, governance issues, liquidity challenges, and changes in donor, grant, reimbursement, or program revenue patterns. The position leads commercial underwriting processes, underwrites and structures transactions, analyzes client financial statements and projections, identifies and mitigates risks, and recommends appropriate loan structures. It manages an assigned portfolio through performance monitoring, annual reviews, risk rating, financial statement spreading, compliance reviews, amendments, and waivers. The Portfolio Manager develops client relationships through direct calling efforts and partners with internal product teams to provide solutions aligned with client needs and the Bank's risk criteria. The role also partners with Investment Banking peers on complex financing solutions, maintains expertise in banking products and industry trends, and shares relevant insights across the Portfolio Management organization. It manages deal-team work through assigned Associates and Analysts and mentors and coaches junior Portfolio Managers, Associates, and Analysts. The position has no direct reports. It provides independent risk recommendations, with final approval made by the ultimate risk approval officer. The work is described as very complex, including lead clients, leveraged profiles, PEG-affiliated clients, sensitive relationships, and difficult legal structures.
