Underwrites credit exposure for less complex relationships and actively manages a portfolio of Dealer Services relationships. The role includes day-to-day client interaction, portfolio risk management, and adherence to regulatory and compliance guidelines. A critical component is the early identification of emerging credit concerns, sector trends, funding pressures, governance issues, liquidity challenges, and changes in revenue patterns such as donor, grant, reimbursement, or program revenue. The Portfolio Manager leads commercial underwriting processes, structures and documents transactions, analyzes company performance and industry and macroeconomic dynamics, evaluates financial statements and business plans, identifies and mitigates risks, recommends loan structures, and supports risk evaluation and regulatory compliance. The role manages an assigned portfolio through performance monitoring, annual reviews, risk-rating integrity, financial statement spreading, compliance reviews, amendments, waivers, and remediation of identified issues. The Portfolio Manager expands client relationships through direct calling efforts and collaborates with internal product partners to develop solutions that meet client needs and the Bank's risk criteria. The role partners with Investment Banking peers on complex financing solutions, maintains knowledge of banking solutions and industry trends, and shares relevant insights across the Portfolio Management organization. It also coordinates deal-team tasks with assigned Associates and Analysts and mentors and coaches junior teammates. There are no direct reports. The role provides independent risk recommendations, which are ultimately approved by the risk approval officer, and may handle complex, leveraged, sensitive, or difficult-to-structure relationships.
