About The Position

The United Group of Companies is hiring a full-time Porter for Fox Run at Fulton, a professionally managed student-housing community in Poughkeepsie, New York. The Porter performs routine cleaning and upkeep of common areas, offices, and building spaces; maintains cleaning supplies and equipment; and assists with vacant-unit cleaning, grounds work, minor maintenance, painting, and emergency situations as needed. The role requires indoor and outdoor work and physical activity throughout the shift. The position is non-exempt and pays $22 per hour. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with evenings and weekends as needed. Training is provided in preventative maintenance, safety, and related topics.

Requirements

High school diploma.
Applicable work history.
Ability to stand and walk for 8 to 10 hours.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to bend, stoop, squat, reach, push, pull, kneel, lift, and carry.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
Ability to work around varying air quality, temperatures, walking surfaces, lighting, and other physical conditions, and potential exposure to paints, cleaning agents, and other chemicals.
Integrity at a personal and professional level.
Ability to solve problems involving maintenance, safety, and challenging situations.

Nice To Haves

One to two years of experience in residential property maintenance is preferred.
Experience with pressure washing, basic painting, and general housekeeping.
EPA certification.
CPO certification.

Responsibilities

Vacuum common-area carpet and tile floors daily.
Touch up cleaning in laundry rooms daily.
Clean the glass in building vestibules daily.
Clean common-area restrooms daily.
Sweep all stairwells weekly.
Vacuum, sweep, and dust Community Rooms weekly.
Clean trash rooms and trash cans weekly.
Vacuum and dust offices weekly.
Clean building windows inside and out and clean common-area carpeting.
Maintain inventory of cleaning products.
Maintain cleaning equipment and arrange servicing when appropriate.
Assist with cleaning vacant units.
Assist with landscaping, minor maintenance, grounds maintenance, painting, and emergency situations as needed.
