About The Position

Montgomery College, Rockville and Germantown campuses, seek candidates for temporary PT Pool Lifeguards in the Facilities Department. This is an evergreen requisition, and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis to support current and anticipated staffing needs. While applications are reviewed regularly, please note, a position may not be actively available at the time you apply. This is a non-bargaining, non-exempt position. For non-exempt positions, you are not eligible to work a secondary job at Montgomery College. The Lifeguard position ensures the safety of pool patrons by rescuing swimmers in distress and administering CPR and/or AED equipment as required, while enforcing all rules and regulations relating to pool activities. This is a part-time, temporary position without benefits and is funded through June 30, 2027. Employment continuation beyond this period is contingent upon need and funding. Part-time, temporary positions are not eligible to work more than 25 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Montgomery County Approved: Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR with AED Certifications.
  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship
  • Successful completion of a background check and degree verification (if applicable).

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor and maintain a healthy and safe aquatic environment/facility for the College community.
  • Perform lifeguard and related water chemistry monitoring duties, including but not limited to: staffing the sign-desk and responding to issues in locker rooms.
  • Actively work to protect minor aged children using the facility, and report concerns related to the protection of minors on college campuses in a timely manner as detailed in current Title IX legislation.
  • Perform cleaning and sanitizing duties. Assist with the annual draining, cleaning and refilling of the swimming pool and other related projects and/or activities.
  • Support the pool activities and physical education classes utilizing the facility such as setting up and tearing down rental areas, distributing equipment, opening and closing the facility.
  • Provide information to internal/external patrons concerning College classes and activities, recreational swim and rental programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
