About The Position
The Lifeguard helps create a fun, safe aquatics environment at the Missouri Valley Family YMCA in Bismarck, North Dakota. The role serves as a leader, assures swimmer safety, and creates a positive atmosphere for pool users. The First International Bank & Trust Family Splash Center features a warm-water pool with water slides and play features, swim lessons, fitness classes, lap swim, therapeutic jets for hydrotherapy, and birthday party programming and space. This is a part-time position with shifts available Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Saturdays from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.; and Saturday and Sunday in shifts from 9:00 a.m. to noon, noon to 3:00 p.m., or 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Weekend shifts pay $1 more per hour. The role pays $13.50 to $15.65 per hour, and employees receive a free YMCA membership. The YMCA offers free Lifeguard Certification Classes to candidates who commit to working at the YMCA after completing certification.
Requirements
- Display the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
- Demonstrate the ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness.
- Demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
- Be at least 15 years old.
Nice To Haves
- Current Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
- Lifeguard experience.
Responsibilities
- Ensure safety in and around the pool area.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Maintain a clean, safe pool area.
- Communicate appropriately with parents, participants, and members.
- Help create a positive aquatics atmosphere for pool users.
