The Police Sergeant supervises personnel of equal or lesser rank, performing varied and detailed duties in planning, assigning, and directing the activities of subordinates in Patrol and the Communications Center. The Sergeant monitors and evaluates the performance of subordinates and provides written documentation meeting the requirements of Babson College’s formal evaluation process. The Sergeant may be assigned as a shift patrol supervisor or to any special assignments. Generally working under the supervision of the Assistant Director/Patrol Lieutenant, a Sergeant shall have immediate control of the personnel under their command and shall be held strictly accountable for their efficiency, effectiveness, discipline, appearance, and overall conduct to ensure appropriate enforcement and compliance with the General Laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the policies, procedures, and regulations of Babson College, consistent with the interests of protecting the lives and property of the members of the Babson College community. In absence of any superior officer, the Sergeant shall assume complete charge of the department until otherwise relieved by a higher authority.
