About The Position

The Canadian state and nation have undergone a significant transformation since the end of the Second World War. This seminar focuses on the nature of that transformation and the forces that helped to shape it. Topics may include: multi-nationalism (Québec and Aboriginal Peoples), multiculturalism, gender, diversity, globalization, the rights revolution, economic prosperity and decline, neo-liberalism, new public management.

Requirements

  • PhD in Political Science, Canadian Studies, or related discipline.
  • Canadian politics background or previous teaching in Canadian politics.
  • Internal member of the CTF bargaining unit.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the seminar PO431: The State and Nation in Canada during the Fall 2026 term.
  • Deliver lectures and facilitate seminar discussions.
  • Assess student performance through grading and feedback.
  • Adhere to the collective agreement and university policies.
