About The Position

A critical analysis of how disabilities are socially constructed and marginalized. Debates within and about disability studies are examined as are the links between disability and governmentality/bio-power.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree
  • Sociology or related discipline
  • Professional training and/or experience relevant to the substantive content of the course.
  • University teaching experience (course directorship; tutorial leadership not considered).
  • Evidence of explicit sociological orientation.
  • Internal members of the CTF bargaining unit as defined by Article 13.7.2.17.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver lectures for SY339A, Disability & Abnormality course.
  • Critically analyze the social construction and marginalization of disabilities.
  • Examine debates within and about disability studies.
  • Explore the links between disability and governmentality/bio-power.
