About The Position

Artificial intelligence raises profound ethical and existential questions. This course explores how AI systems embed values, how they impact work, relationships, warfare, and social life, and whether advanced AIs could possess minds, consciousness, or even rights. We examine debates about Artificial General Intelligence and superintelligence and consider whether these developments should be feared or welcomed.

Requirements

  • PhD in Philosophy.
  • Internal member of the CTF bargaining unit.
  • CV (Max 10 pages).

Responsibilities

  • Teach the course PP222: Ethics and AI during the Fall 2026 term.
  • Deliver lectures on Mondays and Wednesdays from 13:00 to 14:20.
  • Manage a class size of approximately 75 students.
  • Utilize the Candidate Application Form (CAF) for assessment.
  • Adhere to the Contract Teaching Faculty and Part-time Librarians Collective Agreement.
