About The Position

The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections at SCI Forest is actively seeking devoted and passionate Plumbing Trade Instructor. As a Plumbing Trade Instructor, you will work as part of a dedicated maintenance team where collaboration and communication are integral. Your efforts will help learners build confidence and develop skills to support stability in their futures. This position provides structured classroom and hands-on instruction in the plumbing trade to support inmate vocational goals and effective facility operations.

Requirements

• Five years of experience in the inspection, maintenance, repair, assembly, and installation of pipes, fittings, and fixtures used in heating, water, and drainage systems; or Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the plumbing trade; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the plumbing trade.
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• Must meet the PA residency requirement.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.
• Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom and on the job instruction in standard plumbing practices, methods, and techniques
• Guide, assist, and monitor inmate work crews as they complete assignments
• Maintain accurate records of inmate training progress, attendance, and assignment details
• Issue, track, conduct searches, and account for all tools and materials used during training and work activities
• Identify materials needed to complete assignments and submit purchase requests as needed
