Plumbing Install Apprentice
About The Position
As a Plumbing Service Apprentice, you will support licensed plumbers on service calls under direct supervision, learning to diagnose and repair leaks, clogs, fixture issues, and water heater problems. You will gain hands-on experience with tools, blueprints, and diagnostic equipment while building the technical foundation needed to advance in the plumbing trade. This is a field-based role with daily travel to customer homes and commercial sites. Work takes place indoors and outdoors, sometimes in confined spaces or varied weather conditions. Evening, weekend, or overtime work may be required depending on service demand.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with tools and materials.
- Willingness to learn plumbing service practices and safety protocols.
- Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, kneel, crawl, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.
Nice To Haves
- Enrollment in or interest in a plumbing apprenticeship or trade school program.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Responsibilities
- Assist plumbers with diagnosing and repairing plumbing issues, including leaks, clogs, fixture replacements, and water heater repairs.
- Prepare tools, materials, and equipment for service calls and perform basic tasks such as cutting and measuring pipes under supervision.
- Learn to read blueprints, schematics, and work orders to understand job requirements.
- Support testing of water pressure, drainage, and system performance.
- Document work performed and assist with job notes.
- Provide professional and respectful assistance to customers, supporting technicians in explaining repairs and options.
- Protect customer property and clean up after service.
