About The Position

Ellie Mental Health is hiring a Play Therapist for its locally owned outpatient mental health clinic in Clinton Township, Michigan. The therapist will work with children and families, using creativity, connection, clinical skills, and developmentally appropriate play therapy to help children express themselves, build coping skills, and grow. The role includes a mix of in-person and telehealth sessions based on client needs, in a welcoming setting with a collaborative clinical team and supportive Clinic Director. This is a full-time role with a target of 25 recorded client sessions per week. Some evening or weekend availability is helpful for families. Estimated annual earnings are $70,000–$90,000+, depending on caseload and productivity, with potential bonuses and incentives.

Requirements

Master’s degree in a behavioral health field.
Full clinical license in Michigan, such as an LMSW, LPC, or LMFT.
Experience providing therapy to children and using play-based interventions.
Strong understanding of child development and family dynamics.
Warm, creative approach that helps children feel safe and engaged.
Comfort using an electronic health record.

Nice To Haves

Play therapy training or Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credentials.
Valant experience.

Responsibilities

Provide outpatient therapy to children using developmentally appropriate play therapy techniques.
Partner with parents and caregivers to support client progress beyond the therapy room.
Create individualized treatment plans and help clients work through emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges.
