About The Position

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking an experienced Edifecs Platform Operations Lead to manage the Edifecs application support organization for the Department of Veterans Affairs. This full-time position is 100% U.S.-based remote, though candidates residing in California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, or Washington will not be considered. The role requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI). The Platform Operations Lead acts as the Edifecs Platform Manager, ensuring operational stability, scalability, compliance, and strategic alignment. The role provides technical oversight, manages staffing, drives roadmap execution, and partners with product, architecture, vendor, business, EDI, DevSecOps, and cloud teams. It guides architecture decisions, modernization, cloud scalability, performance strategies, and production operations. The role involves configuring and maintaining Edifecs XEServer, XEngine, Trusted Platform Modules (TPMs), SpecBuilder, and related modules; guiding EDI Analysts in developing, deploying, and optimizing processing rules, routing logic, and batch workflows; and troubleshooting mappings, validation failures, functional errors, performance bottlenecks, and transaction failures. It also supports logging, JVM tuning, certificate and keystore configuration, deployments, environment refreshes, patching, and upgrades. The position requires strong Edifecs architecture and transaction-lifecycle knowledge, AWS experience, and technical expertise across EDI connectivity and integration, performance and availability, compliance, and infrastructure as code. The role also communicates architecture decisions to non-technical stakeholders, translates business reporting requirements into technical data models, resolves ambiguous architecture decisions, and maintains architecture diagrams, data dictionaries, and migration runbooks. The posting requires 10 or more years of professional experience in EDI, healthcare, or enterprise application operations, software or data engineering, with strong AWS experience. An Edifecs certification is listed under professional certifications, and a master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline is listed under formal education. Desired experience includes hands-on healthcare X12 transactions, HIPAA cloud data architecture, and healthcare payer, PBM, clearinghouse, or pharmacy operations; AWS certification is a bonus.
