Platform Engineer
About The Position
We are seeking a skilled Platform Engineer to own and optimize our GitHub Actions workflows, maintain local development environments, and provide technical guidance to developers. This role involves designing and implementing multi-cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Kubernetes, managing complex integrations with machine learning APIs, and maintaining our secrets management, service mesh, and networking architecture. You will also deploy and configure observability platforms using OpenTelemetry, correlate ML/LLM metrics, and implement security controls aligned with SOC 2, ISO 27001, and GDPR. Additionally, you will design asset-based permissions, access control systems, and maintain audit trails for regulated deployments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, management information systems or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
- 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, full-stack development, DevOps, or SRE roles
- Strong experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS required, GCP/Azure a plus)
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform strongly preferred)
- Python with type hints for tooling and automation
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred)
- Solid understanding of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Strong grasp of networking, security, and secrets management
Nice To Haves
- Experience with regulated industries (pharmaceutical, medical device, finance)
- Background with compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR)
- Observability platform experience using OTel (Prometheus, Grafana, or modern alternatives)
- Interest in modern development tools (uv, mise, devpod, justfiles)
- Experience with LLM, vision, and other machine learning frameworks
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing or quality systems
- Exposure to Rust, uv, justfile, or other cutting-edge platform tools
Responsibilities
- Own and optimize GitHub Actions workflows with parallel execution and comprehensive testing strategies
- Maintain local development environments and ensure parity with GitHub Actions using scripting tools such as Python, Bash, justfiles, or makefiles
- Provide technical guidance and education to developers on platform tools and best practices
- Design and implement multi-cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, and Azure) using Terraform and Kubernetes
- Manage complex integrations with machine learning APIs and services
- Maintain and upgrade secrets management, service mesh, and networking architecture across cloud providers
- Deploy and configure observability platforms using OpenTelemetry (OTel)
- Correlate machine learning and LLM metrics with traditional application observability
- Implement security controls aligned with SOC 2, ISO 27001, and GDPR requirements
- Design asset-based permissions and access control systems
- Maintain audit trails and documentation for regulated deployments
