About The Position

Sails Software Inc. is seeking a senior-level Platform Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable cloud-based platforms, particularly on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The role leads engineers in developing robust platform solutions, guides cloud architecture strategy, and supports operational efficiency and business objectives. The engineer will mentor junior team members and foster knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

The position involves designing and executing GCP cloud solutions; enhancing scalability, security, availability, and resilience; optimizing cloud performance and costs; and addressing operational challenges. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams and work with experienced engineers and architects in a collaborative, innovation-focused environment.

Requirements

• Proven experience in platform engineering, with a strong focus on cloud technologies, particularly GCP.
• Extensive experience with GCP services and architecture, including compute, storage, and networking solutions.
• Extensive knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in scripting and programming languages, including Python, Go, or Java.
• Expertise in infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Proficiency with automation and orchestration tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking, security, monitoring, and cloud security best practices.
• Exceptional leadership and team management skills, including a track record of mentoring technical teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, a results-oriented mindset, and a strategic approach to complex tasks.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, develop, and implement scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure solutions on Google Cloud Platform.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define platform requirements, align them with business objectives, and address complex technical challenges.
• Lead and mentor engineers, promoting cloud development and deployment best practices and a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
• Monitor and optimize cloud service performance, cost, security, and availability; implement enhancements as needed.
• Assess emerging technologies to help keep the platform current.
• Identify and address operational challenges to provide a seamless user experience and high availability.
• Establish monitoring and incident response protocols to ensure infrastructure resilience.
