Supports the safe and efficient operation of steam plant boilers (up to 4,000 BHP) and Chillers (up to 2000 tons) and other equipment associated with the steam and chiller plants in accordance with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and standards. This role involves performing routine inspections, recording operational data, supporting electrical power distribution, and conducting minor mechanical piping repairs. The Plant Operator I also performs preventive and corrective maintenance on various utility systems, supports the boiler chemical water treatment program, and ensures the boiler room is kept clean to prevent fire hazards. The position requires operating hand and power tools and adhering to OSHA standards when working with hazardous materials and power equipment, using personal protective equipment as required. This is an in-person role at an Emory University location.
