We welcome candidates who can contribute to the excellence of our academic community. This Plant Operator I role works the evening shift, scheduled from Sunday - Thursday, 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm. The position supports the safe and efficient operation of steam plant boilers (up to 4,000 BHP) and Chillers (up to 2000 tons) and other associated equipment in accordance with ASME and NFPA codes and standards. Responsibilities include performing routine inspections, recording operational data, supporting electrical power distribution, and conducting minor mechanical piping repairs. The role also involves preventive and corrective maintenance on utility systems such as compressed air, CO2, steam boilers, water purification, fuel oil, chillers, and glycol. Additionally, the Plant Operator I supports the boiler chemical water treatment program and maintains the cleanliness of the boiler room to prevent fire hazards. The position requires the use of hand and power tools and adherence to OSHA standards when working with hazardous materials and power equipment, including the proper use of personal protective equipment.
