About The Position

This position is based at our headquarters in Mooresville, North Carolina. Our corporate office is a space where you can collaborate and do your best work. As a Planogram / Visual Space Planning Intern at Lowe’s, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting how products, displays, and categories are strategically organized within Lowe’s stores to create an intuitive and engaging shopping experience. You’ll work alongside space planning, merchandising, and store operations professionals to understand how planograms, product placement, space allocation, customer behavior, and merchandising strategies come together to optimize the selling environment. Through project-based work, you’ll use data and visual planning principles to help develop solutions that balance customer needs, operational considerations, and business objectives. This internship is ideal for students interested in combining analytics, visual merchandising, space planning, retail strategy, and creative problem-solving to influence the in-store experience. Our 10-week Summer Internship Program, May 24 – July 30, 2027, provides an immersive opportunity to gain real-world experience within a FORTUNE® 100 home improvement company. You’ll work directly with Lowe’s professionals and business leaders while contributing to meaningful projects, developing your professional network, and gaining exposure to the strategies and processes that support Lowe’s stores. Requirements

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Merchandising, Retail Management, Business, Marketing, Industrial Design, Interior Design, Architecture, Industrial Engineering, Analytics, or a related field.
Expected graduation date of December 2027 or May 2028.
Ability to work at Lowe’s Store Support Center in Mooresville, North Carolina for the duration of the internship.
Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
Ability to work effectively within a collaborative and cross-functional environment.

Nice To Haves

3.0 cumulative GPA or higher.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Interest or experience in space planning, planogramming, visual merchandising, retail design, merchandising, or store operations.
Familiarity with space-planning, planogramming, CAD, design, visualization, or analytics software is preferred.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
Understanding of fundamental visual merchandising and design principles.
Strong spatial awareness and attention to detail.
Ability to balance analytical thinking with visual and creative problem-solving.
Strong organizational and project-management skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple business partners and stakeholders.
Previous retail, internship, academic project, leadership, or related professional experience is preferred.
Passion for improving how customers discover, navigate, and shop products within a retail environment.

Responsibilities

Understanding how planograms are developed and used to guide product placement and merchandising execution within Lowe’s stores.
Learning how product assortment, space allocation, adjacencies, and visual presentation influence the customer shopping experience.
Supporting the development, maintenance, or evaluation of planograms and space-planning solutions.
Analyzing product, category, store, and space-related data to identify merchandising opportunities.
Understanding how available selling space is balanced with assortment and business priorities.
Evaluating product placement and visual organization to support shopability, operational efficiency, and consistent execution.
Applying visual merchandising and space-planning principles to real-world retail projects.
Learning how store layouts, bays, fixtures, displays, and product dimensions influence merchandising decisions.
Supporting planogram reviews and identifying opportunities to improve product presentation and space utilization.
Collaborating with cross-functional partners across Merchandising, Store Operations, Store Environment, Space Planning, and other business functions.
Translating data and observations into clear recommendations for business partners.
Presenting project findings and recommendations through compelling visual storytelling and presentations.
