Under direct supervision of the Administrative Supervisor, the Administrative Assistant provides highly skilled or specialized administrative, management, and coordinating support for the daily operation of the department. The employee must be able to work well under stress and be able to handle multiple tasks in spite of interruptions. This position requires strong organization skills, courtesy, tact, and diplomacy in daily contact with the public and staff. Mature judgement and prove ability to handle confidential, sensitive, and highly volatile problems are essential. This position requires a strong work ethic, which will result in a high performance level both in terms of quantity and quality. It is also essential to be a team player with the ability to influence staff in a positive way to develop/maintain interpersonal relationships, resulting in departmental effectiveness and efficiency. The ability to learn new planning-related software quickly is also required.
