About The Position

The City of Midwest City is accepting applications for a Planner II or Planner III in the Planning & Zoning Department. The Planner II incumbent is significantly involved in a variety of plan review and long-range planning and development efforts of the city. The incumbent can perform professional planning work of moderate difficulty with limited supervision and has a well-developed knowledge of planning principles and practices. Depending on qualifications, this position may be filled as a Planner III. A Planner III incumbent requires a higher level of education, experience, and certification and is assigned additional duties and responsibilities from those listed in job description. A Planner III incumbent can perform professional planning work of high complexity and variety with limited supervision and has a well-developed knowledge of planning principles and practices. A Planner III incumbent leads and/or is significantly involved in complex planning assignments requiring independence and judgment.

Requirements

Completed City of Midwest City employment application
Bachelor's degree in planning, public administration, or related field (for Planner II)
4 or more years of professional planning experience (for Planner II)
AICP required within 4 years of employment (for Planner II)
Valid Oklahoma driver license and be insurable
Master's degree in planning, public administration, or related field (for Planner III)
Five or more years of professional planning experience (for Planner III)
AICP required (for Planner III)

Nice To Haves

Master's degree in planning, public administration, or related field (can replace up to 2 years of required professional experience for Planner II)
Current AICP preferred (for Planner II)
Professional experience in project management preferred (for Planner III)
