Planner II or III
About The Position
The City of Midwest City is accepting applications for a Planner II or Planner III in the Planning & Zoning Department. The Planner II incumbent is significantly involved in a variety of plan review and long-range planning and development efforts of the city. The incumbent can perform professional planning work of moderate difficulty with limited supervision and has a well-developed knowledge of planning principles and practices. Depending on qualifications, this position may be filled as a Planner III. A Planner III incumbent requires a higher level of education, experience, and certification and is assigned additional duties and responsibilities from those listed in job description. A Planner III incumbent can perform professional planning work of high complexity and variety with limited supervision and has a well-developed knowledge of planning principles and practices. A Planner III incumbent leads and/or is significantly involved in complex planning assignments requiring independence and judgment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in planning, public administration, or related field (for Planner II)
- 4 or more years of professional planning experience (for Planner II)
- AICP required within 4 years of employment (for Planner II)
- Valid Oklahoma driver license and be insurable
- Master's degree in planning, public administration, or related field (for Planner III)
- Five or more years of professional planning experience (for Planner III)
- AICP is required (for Planner III)
Nice To Haves
- Master's degree in planning, public administration, or related field (can replace up to 2 years of required professional experience for Planner II)
- Current AICP preferred (for Planner II)
- Professional experience in project management preferred (for Planner III)
