About The Position

SoFive Upland is seeking a dynamic Pickleball Manager on Duty to lead daily operations and spearhead the growth of their pickleball program. This hourly position offers a base pay of $20/hour with significant additional earning potential through organizing and running pickleball clinics. The ideal candidate is a strong pickleball player with coaching experience, an operational mindset, and an entrepreneurial spirit, ready to build and lead a thriving pickleball community.

Requirements

  • Strong pickleball player (competitive level or certified coach — PPR / IPTPA a plus)
  • Experience coaching or running group sports programs
  • Operational mindset — comfortable managing a facility, handling customers, and leading staff on shift
  • High energy, strong people skills, ability to build and lead a community
  • Comfortable with digital tools (booking systems, CRM, social media)
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: autonomous, proactive, results-driven
  • Available Monday to Friday, late afternoon to evening (4 PM – 10 PM)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing a club, academy, or sports facility
  • Prior experience as a duty/shift manager in sports, hospitality, or retail
  • Knowledge of the Upland area and its local pickleball scene
  • Digital marketing or community management skills

Responsibilities

  • Act as primary on-site decision-maker during shifts, overseeing daily operations including opening/closing the facility, completing checklists, and ensuring operations run on schedule.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for customers, handling inquiries, complaints, and communication via phone and email with a customer-first approach.
  • Coordinate with on-site staff and coaches, fostering teamwork and ensuring adherence to SoFive's policies and standards.
  • Monitor facility cleanliness, inventory, and equipment, reporting needs and incidents to the General Manager (GM).
  • Uphold health and safety standards, conducting regular checks and documenting incidents.
  • Send daily debriefs at closing and escalate unresolved issues to the GM.
  • Lead pickleball clinics, group classes, and training sessions for all skill levels.
  • Design and evolve the pickleball program calendar, including offerings for juniors, adults, leagues, tournaments, and events.
  • Deliver a high-quality player experience in all pickleball sessions.
  • Manage the booking system for pickleball courts, programs, payments, and registrations.
  • Grow the Upland pickleball community through acquisition, retention, and referrals.
  • Organize pickleball events such as tournaments, social events, open-play nights, and local partnerships.
  • Contribute to local marketing efforts, including site social media, acquisition campaigns, and promotions.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as court utilization, revenue, and retention, and drive actions to improve them.
