About The Position

Axis Therapy & Performance is seeking a Physiotherapist to join their team as a Lead Therapist. This is a clinical leadership role focused on supporting the Clinic Director in maintaining and improving clinical standards, coaching other therapists, and contributing to the overall strength and performance of the clinic. The role emphasizes behavioral leadership, focusing on developing other therapists, ensuring consistent standards, and helping build a sustainable clinic. It is a clinical leadership position, not a management or administrative one, requiring a strong commitment to quality of care and client outcomes.

Requirements

  • Active registration in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario (CPO)
  • Current professional liability insurance
  • Eligible to work in Canada
  • Minimum 1 year of practice in a private practice setting
  • Demonstrated experience treating MSK and orthopaedic caseloads
  • Thrives in a 1-on-1 treatment model with full 30-minute appointments
  • Strong focus and genuine passion for manual therapy
  • Comfortable managing a full caseload independently
  • Confident with treatment planning, progression logic, and client education
  • Track record of strong clinical outcomes and client retention in your own caseload
  • Experience mentoring, onboarding, or supporting other clinicians (formally or informally)
  • Comfortable giving and receiving direct feedback
  • Demonstrated ability to hold standards under pressure
  • Available to work consistent clinic hours, including some evenings or weekends as required by location
  • Reliable, organized, and accountable to documentation standards
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Comfortable working within a structured operating system and clear scope of authority

Nice To Haves

  • Post-graduate certifications (manual therapy, dry needling, vestibular, pelvic health, sport, etc.)
  • Experience with EMR systems (Jane, ClinicSense, or equivalent)
  • Previous exposure to multi-location or scaling clinic environments
  • Clinical instructor or preceptor experience

Responsibilities

  • Observe therapist treatment, documentation, and planning patterns.
  • Coach therapists on treatment plan clarity, progression and frequency, and client education and confidence.
  • Address clinical gaps early.
  • Support consistent, ethical long-term care conversations.
  • Reinforce Axis standards around maintenance and proactive care.
  • Challenge under-serving and over-serving when clinically relevant.
  • Understand how therapist behaviors influence retention, rebooking, plan adherence, and long-term care adoption.
  • Coach in ways that support strong plans of care and confident recommendations.
  • Surface behavior patterns that may be impacting clinic performance.
  • Participate in clinic initiatives aimed at improving client continuity and long-term outcomes.
  • Model Axis clinical standards in your own practice.
  • Support onboarding and development of new therapists.
  • Act as a visible clinical resource and standard bearer.
  • Report to the Clinic Director.
  • Support clinic leadership.
  • Coach behaviors.
  • Escalate clinical red flags when standards are at risk.
