About The Position

MaineHealth Franklin Hospital is seeking a per diem, board-certified or board-eligible Family Medicine physician with obstetrics training, including surgical and non-surgical obstetrics, to join a team of three physicians and one Certified Nurse Midwife. The role provides comprehensive obstetrical care in a collaborative rural setting, including prenatal care, labor and delivery, vaginal births, Cesarean sections, postpartum care, and newborn care. Depending on interests and qualifications, the physician may practice exclusively in obstetrics or combine obstetrics with primary care. Shared call responsibilities are approximately 1:4. As a Level I Maternal Center and the only inpatient hospital in Franklin County, Franklin Hospital delivers approximately 250 babies annually. The position offers opportunities to build meaningful patient relationships, strong clinical support, a fully integrated Epic EMR, and access to subspecialists in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, and Urogynecology. The position is based in Farmington, Maine.

Requirements

MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
Completion of an accredited Family Medicine residency.
Surgical Obstetrics Fellowship training with competency in Cesarean delivery, or obstetrics training.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine.
Eligible for medical licensure in Maine.

Responsibilities

Provide prenatal care.
Provide labor and delivery care, including vaginal births and Cesarean sections.
Provide postpartum care and newborn care.
Participate in shared call responsibilities, approximately 1:4.
Practice obstetrics exclusively or combine obstetrics with primary care, depending on interests and qualifications.
