About The Position

The Urgent Care Physician provides high-quality, patient-centered medical care to individuals with acute illnesses and injuries in an ambulatory urgent care setting. The physician evaluates, diagnoses, and treats a broad spectrum of non-life-threatening conditions and promotes continuity of care through appropriate referrals and follow-up recommendations. The position works closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, practice managers, nursing leadership, and departmental administration to improve patient access, clinical quality, operational performance, provider engagement, and patient experience. The physician supports continuous improvement initiatives and helps foster a collaborative, accountable, and inclusive care-team culture. Urgent Care operates seven days per week and uses a collaborative physician and APP staffing model. The position has 12-hour shifts with no overnight coverage and uses the Epic electronic medical record system.

Requirements

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
Completion of an accredited Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine residency program.
Current, unrestricted Texas medical license or eligibility to obtain one.
Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine and/or Emergency Medicine.
Unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
Eligible for DEA registration for practice requirements.
Comfort working in a large public/county facility and health system environment.
Comprehensive clinical expertise in Family Medicine, including care for pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working effectively with interdisciplinary teams and learners.
Self-directed, with initiative to participate in community outreach.

Nice To Haves

Two years of experience working as a physician in an urgent care setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive, evidence-based care to patients in an urgent care setting.
Coordinate multidisciplinary patient care to optimize outcomes and patient experience.
Review patient medical records to diagnose and treat patients, provide care management, and educate patients and families.
Make appropriate referrals to specialists and ancillary services.
Monitor and adhere to national health guidelines and those established by JPS Health Network and Acclaim Health.
Maintain a collaborative environment with physicians, advanced practice professionals, and support staff.
Participate in performance improvement initiatives, peer review, and quality assurance activities.
Partner and communicate effectively to support a positive patient and community experience.
Serve as a clinical and educational resource to the community.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
