About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is seeking a Physician specializing in Pediatrics with a focus on Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics. This role involves joining an established practice with dedicated support staff, collaborating with various pediatric subspecialties, and providing comprehensive evaluation and management for a wide range of developmental and behavioral conditions in patients from infancy through adolescence. The position offers opportunities for participation in multidisciplinary clinics and academic involvement with the University of North Dakota School of Medicine & Health Sciences, including teaching opportunities with medical students and residents.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Successful completion of a hospital affiliated Pediatric residency program.
  • Completion of a Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics fellowship program accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/ subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
  • Applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their fellowship training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience can be demonstrated by providing a fellowship log (if just completed fellowship).
  • If not applying directly out of fellowship, provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where currently has privileges showing clinical activity for the last 12 months, including numbers of procedures performed, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications.
  • Must be able to demonstrate active involvement of inpatient services for at least 50 patients in the last 12 months.
  • If a quality profile is not available, documentation of clinic activity for the last 12 months is required, demonstrating active involvement in the care of 50 patients in clinical practice in the last 12 months.
  • More education and experience may be required the more advanced the practice becomes.
  • Training at residency and fellowship programs accredited by organizations other than ACGME, AOA, or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada may be considered via the waiver of eligibility process.

Responsibilities

  • Perform history and physical examination.
  • Admit patients (if applicable to setting).
  • Evaluate, diagnose, consult, and provide treatment to patients from infancy through adolescence with developmental difficulties and problematic behaviors.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary clinics, including Autism & Developmental Disorders, Brain Injury, Cerebral Palsy, and NICU Follow Up.
