The Prisma Health Physician is responsible for the provision of quality medical services to patients of Prisma Health-University Medical Group. This role engages in the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of disease, defects or injuries and recommends or prescribes treatments for the relief or cure of physical, mental or functional ailments or defects. The physician renders medical treatment to patients consistent with generally accepted professional standards of care without regard to their ability to pay or their race, creed, color, sex, religion, national origin, or age. The role also involves completing accurate, legible, and timely records, using appropriate coding, and providing after-hours call coverage. Compliance with accepted medical practice standards, managed care organization rules, and Joint Commission standards is expected. Enhancing clinical skills through continuing medical education is also a key responsibility. As part of an Academic Health Center, physicians are expected to actively participate in non-revenue generating activities that advance the Vision and Mission of Prisma Health, which may include committee service, community outreach, and supporting teaching and research goals. Participation in responding to requests for proposals for managed care contracts and in the establishment of quality assurance, utilization management, patient education, and patient satisfaction programs is also required. The physician will assist the Employer in obtaining and maintaining necessary licenses, permits, and authorizations, and achieving applicable accreditation standards.
