About The Position

Sanford Health is seeking a Board Eligible/Board Certified Rheumatologist to establish a new outpatient rheumatology practice in Rapid City, South Dakota. This role involves building a practice from the ground up, with a strong referral network already in place. A key aspect of this opportunity is partnering in the development of a new Autoimmune Infusion Center to provide comprehensive care for patients with complex autoimmune diseases. The practice will be 100% outpatient, with a Monday-Friday clinic schedule and no inpatient responsibilities or after-hours call. Physicians will see approximately 15-20 patients per day and will have the opportunity to design workflows, build the practice, and influence future growth, including the expansion of biologic therapy services.

Requirements

M.D. or D.O. degree.
Successful completion of an Internal Medicine or Pediatric residency program.
Completion of a fellowship in Rheumatology accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
Applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their fellowship training within the last five years must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.

Nice To Haves

Experience can be demonstrated via fellowship log, quality profile from hospitals, or documentation of clinic activity for the last 12 months showing active involvement with at least 50 patients.
Training at residency and fellowship programs accredited by organizations other than ACGME, AOA, or Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada may be considered via the waiver of eligibility process.
Ability to perform admit, provide consultative services, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to patients of all ages with diseases of the joints, muscles, bones, and tendons.

Influence future growth of rheumatology services in the region.
