Physician - Medical Director
About The Position
The Physician will provide comprehensive medical care to patients in a correctional healthcare setting, including diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions. The role collaborates with nursing and other healthcare staff to develop and implement treatment plans, prescribe medications, and ensure high-quality patient care. The Physician also maintains accurate medical records and adheres to healthcare regulations and facility policies. This is a part-time position at Athens-Clarke County Jail in Athens, Georgia, requiring 16 hours per week. It is not a locum or agency assignment. MEDIKO is a national correctional healthcare company providing care to underserved populations.
Requirements
- Current, valid, and unrestricted state license.
- Current, valid DEA registration, if applicable.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of clinical practice.
- Active CPR/BLS certificate meeting American Heart Association or American Red Cross guidelines.
Nice To Haves
- Board certification in a relevant specialty, if applicable.
- At least 1–2 years of experience in correctional healthcare or with an underserved population.
- Experience in diagnosis, treatment planning, and providing healthcare services in a managed care or correctional facility setting.
