About The Position

Sun River Health is seeking a full-time Infectious Disease Physician for its Genesis Program at the Hub location in the Bronx, New York. The physician will provide comprehensive outpatient infectious disease care, with a primary focus on HIV medicine, Hepatitis B and C, sexually transmitted infections, and other communicable diseases. The role combines direct patient care, HIV prevention, population health management, and programmatic initiatives to improve outcomes for underserved and vulnerable communities. The physician will manage a longitudinal patient panel and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide integrated care. The position also involves supporting prevention and sexual health initiatives, addressing social determinants of health, contributing to quality improvement and grant-funded activities, and maintaining accurate electronic health record documentation.

Requirements

Doctorate degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
Fellowship training in Infectious Disease.
Active, valid New York State MD or DO license, or ability to obtain licensure.
DEA registration.
Board certified or board eligible in Infectious Disease.
BLS certificate.
Strong clinical knowledge of HIV medicine, infectious disease management, and current treatment guidelines.
Commitment to health equity and serving underserved populations.
Excellent communication and patient education skills.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
Strong organizational, documentation, and clinical decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

Provide outpatient evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management for patients with HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, sexually transmitted infections, and other infectious diseases.
Manage a longitudinal patient panel, maintain continuity of care, and follow evidence-based clinical guidelines.
Conduct medical evaluations, physical examinations, and diagnostic assessments, and interpret laboratory and imaging studies.
Develop individualized treatment plans with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary care team.
Support HIV prevention and sexual health initiatives, including screening, counseling, PrEP, PEP, and risk-reduction education.
Diagnose and manage acute and chronic infectious diseases while promoting prevention, early intervention, and disease surveillance.
Collaborate with Genesis Program leadership, nursing staff, behavioral health providers, care managers, pharmacists, social workers, and community partners.
Address social determinants of health that may affect outcomes, treatment adherence, and access to care.
Coordinate referrals, specialty consultations, and follow-up care.
Participate in Genesis Program initiatives, grant-funded activities, quality improvement projects, and population health strategies.
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic health record.
Participate in organizational, departmental, and quality meetings as required.
Stay current with infectious disease treatment guidelines, HIV medicine advancements, and patient-care best practices.
Support quality metrics, regulatory compliance, and clinical excellence.
