About The Position

Geisinger is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Infectious Disease physician to join its collaborative team at Geisinger Community Medical Center (GCMC) in Scranton, Pennsylvania. GCMC is a 293-bed acute care hospital serving Lackawanna County and communities throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania, with broad specialty support and a Level II trauma center. The position is scheduled for 40 hours per week on day shifts. J-1 waiver sponsorship is not available.

The physician will diagnose and manage infectious diseases, provide evidence-based antimicrobial treatment, and evaluate patients with complex infections and unexplained fevers. The role includes collaboration with a multidisciplinary clinical team and participation in Geisinger’s educational and quality improvement mission, with opportunities to work with residents and medical students.

Requirements

• MD or DO.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Infectious Disease.
• Completion of an Infectious Disease fellowship.
• Commitment to excellent patient care and safety.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Pennsylvania medical license.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage a broad range of infectious diseases.
• Provide evidence-based antimicrobial treatment and management.
• Evaluate patients with complex infections, unexplained fevers, and other infectious disease conditions.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, specialists, and other clinical professionals.
• Participate in Geisinger’s educational and quality improvement mission.
• Work with residents and medical students when opportunities arise.
