About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This role involves joining a comprehensive cardiac program that includes a team of general cardiologists, interventionalists, EP, vascular and advanced practice providers. The practice performs approximately 2,400 procedures a year, including 300 coronary interventions. Responsibilities include clinic duties, inpatient consults, reading various cardiac tests (echos, stress echos, EKGs, monitors, vascular ultrasound), and performing procedures such as TEEs and cardioversions. The facility includes 3 cath labs, an 118-bed hospital with a 14-bed ICU, and is a Level III trauma center with critical care air service. The community is described as a four-season destination with a cost of living 17% below the national average.

Requirements

• M.D. or D.O. degree.
• Completion of a hospital-affiliated Internal Medicine residency program.
• Completion of a fellowship in Cardiology accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
• Certification by the appropriate specialty /subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
• If not board certified at the time of application, must have completed fellowship training within the last five years and achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of fellowship training unless waived.
• For applicants not applying directly out of fellowship: provide a quality profile from hospital(s) showing clinical activity for the past 24 months, including numbers of procedures performed, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications. Must demonstrate active involvement of 100 cardiology procedures.
• For Level 2 and 3 Cardiologists (Invasive or Interventional Cardiologist): must also include 50 cardiac catheterizations as primary operator during the past two years with satisfactory quality data (if applicable to practice).

Nice To Haves

• Experience demonstrated by residency or fellowship log for applicants just completing fellowship.
• If a quality profile is not available, documentation of clinical activity for the past 24 months is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform history and physical examination for adult patients presenting with diseases of the heart, lungs, and blood vessels.
• Admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultative services for adult patients presenting with diseases of the heart, lungs, and blood vessels.
• Conduct clinic duties.
• Perform inpatient consults.
• Read echos, stress echos, EKGs, monitors, and vascular ultrasound.
• Perform procedures such as TEEs and cardioversions.

Benefits

• Annual compensation of $800,000 for the first 2 years of the employment contract.
• Potential to exceed compensation floor from personally performed wRVUs.
• $150,000 retention incentive to be paid if you remain a 1.0 FTE for 3 years (subject to contractual agreement).
