Locum - Physician Assistant (PA) - Surgery - Cardiothoracic
About The Position
Seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) for Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery to provide coverage for 1-2 weeks per month until 2027. This inpatient, hospital-based role involves a mix of weekday clinic hours, on-call responsibilities, and weekend support. The PA will manage post-operative care, conduct emergency surgeries, evaluate consults, assist in operations, manage prescriptions, coordinate patient care, perform rounds, and interpret diagnostic tests for primarily adult and geriatric patients within a Trauma Level 2 designation. Experience with vein harvesting and coordinating patient care is essential. The practice is looking for one provider due to growth and offers potential leadership and teaching opportunities.
Requirements
- Board certification in Vascular Surgery
- Active Ohio license or compact license
- Current ACLS certification
- Active DEA registration
- Clean professional background with no malpractice or licensing issues
- Minimum of 5 years in Cardiothoracic and Vascular surgical services
- Proficiency in vein harvesting
- Experience with Epic EMR system

Responsibilities
- Provide post-operative care for cardiothoracic and vascular surgical cases.
- Conduct emergency surgeries for cardiothoracic and vascular patients.
- Evaluate consults and referrals from the Emergency Department, Cath Lab, and other hospital providers.
- Perform vein harvesting during cardiac surgical procedures.
- Assist in surgical operations.
- Manage prescriptions.
- Coordinate patient care.
- Round on patients.
- Interpret diagnostic tests and order additional investigations.
- Harvest vascular tissues for bypass conduit applications.
