About The Position

We are looking for a Physician Assistant or Family Nurse Practitioners (NP, PA) to serve the primary care needs of our local rural community residents in Glenn County and nearby areas in California. Colusa Medical Center (CMC), is a hospital-based system providing the following health services in Colusa in California: Hospital Emergency, Acute & Rehabilitative Care Affiliated Rural Health Clinics providing Primary Family Practice and Specialty Care in Colusa, Glenn and Tehama counties

Requirements

  • Current ACLS certification preferred.
  • Minimum of one year clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant is preferred.
  • Current license/certification from the State of California indicates that the individual has met training requirements for the position.
  • Elements of physical assessment of adults and children.
  • Family planning.
  • Basics of caring for deviations from health.
  • Community Resources.
  • Relate well with patients, families, and staff
  • Make sound decisions in triaging patients.
  • Provide basic first aid and minor emergency procedures.
  • NP - Registered Nurse License and Nurse Practitioner certificate.
  • PA - Physician's Assistant license preferred, interim permit considered.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Identify health status of patients by taking medical history, performing exam, and initiating and evaluating screening and diagnostic procedures.
  • Provide services in accordance with Standard procedures.
  • Determine which patient to refer to the physician for further diagnostics and treatment.
  • Plan and assume responsibility with physician for ongoing health maintenance and clinical management of patients in stable phases of acute and chronic illnesses.
  • Evaluate patient's emotional behavior, counsel, and instruct individuals and families regarding domestic and health related problems.
  • Initiate orders for diagnostic laboratory tests and x-rays. Interpret and review results. Review medication refills.
  • Assure that adequate patient health records are maintained and transferred when required.
  • Serve as clinical consultant to nursing and ancillary personnel.
  • Coordinate work activities with families, community agencies, and other members of the health care team.
  • Promote economies in service and lower patient costs whenever possible.
  • Participate in development and annual review of policies and procedures. Participate in periodic medical records review.
  • Provide "on-call" coverage as requested by the hospital.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, i.e., jail, juvenile detention center visits, convalescent center visits, etc.
  • Revisions to the job description, accountabilities and measures may be required due to patient care needs and/or efficient operation of the Medical Center. You will be advised in writing of any changes. It is also understood that the job description is not all-inclusive, and you may be required to perform other related duties.
