About The Position

The Physician Assistant in this role will perform medical examinations, selected diagnostic and therapeutic tasks, and other special procedures to assist in the delivery of medical services to patients. This is a full-time position located in Rochester, NY, within the GYN Oncology department at Rochester General Hospital. The schedule is Monday through Friday, days.

Requirements

• BS: Physician Assistant (Required)
• PA-C - Certified Physician Assistant - National Committee on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
• RPA - Registered Physician Assistant - New York State Education Department (NYSED)
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Compassionate, warm and patient focused
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient care to Gynecologic Oncology patients Monday through Friday.
• Obtain comprehensive medical histories, perform physical examinations, assess treatment tolerability, evaluate psychosocial adjustment to diagnosis, manage acute treatment-related complications, and order laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic procedures.
• Develop treatment plans in collaboration with the attending physician and multidisciplinary team, including nursing and social work, to provide optimal patient care.
• Coordinate specialty consultations, assist with research data collection as appropriate, and participate in ongoing professional development.
• Opportunities are available to develop procedural skills, including pelvic examinations, biopsies, and other in-office gynecologic procedures.
• Interact on a frequent, regular, and daily basis with patients, family members, physicians, nursing, social work, and other healthcare professionals.
• Provide education, counseling, and support while helping patients navigate their diagnosis and treatment plan with empathy and compassion.
• Prescribe medications, write orders, perform approved outpatient procedures, and respond to changes in patient condition in collaboration with the multidisciplinary oncology team.
• Obtain complete, detailed, and accurate patient histories; review patient records; perform physical examinations; and document all pertinent findings to develop comprehensive treatment plans and ensure continuity of care for assigned patients.
