About The Position

FirstHealth of the Carolinas is seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant to join their well-established cardiothoracic team in Pinehurst, NC. This role involves providing exceptional patient care within an advanced cardiac program that offers minimally invasive procedures, TAVR, CABG, robotic surgery, and lung procedures. The PA will be part of a four-person PA team supporting three surgeons, with responsibilities including first assist, post-operative care with ICU management, and clinic duties. The schedule is Monday-Friday with 1:4 call.

Requirements

• Graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program
• NCCPA certification
• Proficient with saphenous vein harvest (open and endoscopic)
• Proficient with tube thoracostomy
• Management of ventilators and critically ill patients
• In-depth knowledge of and experience in titrating inotropic and pressor medications
• Efficient with placement of central lines, arterial lines (femoral, radial), Swan-Ganz catheters, and chest tubes
• Unrestricted NC Physician Assistant license
• NC DEA
• ACLS certification through AHA

Nice To Haves

• Two years of CT surgery PA experience preferred
