About The Position

The Physical Therapy Assistant I provides physician-prescribed treatment under the direction of the Department Director and supervising Physical Therapist, following the Physical Therapy Practice Act and hospital and departmental policies and procedures. The role implements the plan of care to restore and enhance patient performance and completes documentation and quality-improvement work as outlined by departmental policies and procedures. The position delivers physical therapy and related follow-up services, including discharge planning, and educates patients, family members, and others about treatment plans and goals. It also documents patient reports and charges, coordinates care with healthcare personnel and outside agencies, and supervises Rehab Techs. New graduates are welcome. Travel is never or rarely required.

Requirements

Associate's degree from an accredited physical therapy assistant program.
Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) state license.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification from the American Heart Association.

Nice To Haves

One year of physical therapy experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive physical therapy treatment and related follow-up services, including discharge planning.
Train and educate patients, family members, and others to support understanding of treatment plans and goals.
Provide physical therapy, including selecting and using assistive equipment.
Report patient progress and collaborate with the evaluating therapist to implement the plan of care.
Document and submit patient reports and charges within established timeframes.
Coordinate care with patients, healthcare personnel, and outside agencies.
Supervise Rehab Techs.
Perform documentation and quality-improvement activities in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
