About The Position

Amedisys is hiring a full-time, day-shift Physical Therapy Assistant to provide home health physical therapy services. The assistant works under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist and follows the physician-approved plan of care. The role includes monitoring patient responses, documenting care and supervisory activities, reporting changes in condition, supporting wellness and prevention, and coordinating follow-up care and community referrals.

Requirements

Current license to practice as a physical therapy assistant in the state where assigned to work.
Graduation from a physical therapy assistant educational program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
One year of related physical therapy experience for PTAs entering home health care; candidates with less experience require approval from regional clinical leaders and appropriate mentoring and/or participation in a residency program.
Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

Provide physical therapy services and interventions under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist and in accordance with the physician-approved plan of care.
Observe, record, and report patients’ responses to treatment and changes in their conditions to the supervising physical therapist, physician, and appropriate clinical staff.
Provide resources for future needs and promote wellness and prevention.
Document supervisory activities in the patient’s medical record.
Monitor and document patients’ responses to physical therapy interventions.
Participate in patient care conferences, in-services, chart audits, quality improvement activities including OBQI and OBQM, and peer-review activities.
Maintain confidentiality of information relating to the physical therapist-client relationship.
Recommend follow-up care in coordination with the admitting agency and use other agency care providers to assist with referrals to community resources.
Perform other duties as assigned.
