About The Position
This is a travel Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) assignment in a Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) setting within a skilled nursing environment in Farmington, ME. The contract is for 20 weeks, with guaranteed 35 hours per week. The role involves providing direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, implementing treatment plans, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team.
Requirements
- Active Physical Therapy Assistant license in Maine (or eligible to practice)
- Associate degree from an accredited PTA program
- Ability to work in LTAC/skilled nursing environment and travel for a 20-week assignment
- Strong documentation and communication skills; reliable and team-oriented
- Eligibility to work in the United States and meet assignment requirements
Nice To Haves
- Prior clinical PTA experience in skilled nursing LTAC settings is preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide physical therapy services under supervision of a licensed PT in LTAC/skilled nursing setting per plan of care
- Implement and progress therapeutic exercises, gait training, range of motion and strengthening activities
- Assist patients with ADLs, mobility, transfers, and functional activities
- Monitor patient responses, document sessions, and communicate progress to the supervising PT
- Maintain safety, infection control, and equipment handling; ensure accurate record keeping and timely charting
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to adjust treatment plans and support discharge planning
