About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU care to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. The Physical Therapist provides compassionate treatment and rehabilitation to patients during recovery. This is a per diem, as-needed position with a flexible schedule in Davenport, Iowa. The hospital offers an extensive orientation program, and the role may provide potential pathways to full-time opportunities.

Requirements

Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist.
Certified BLS, or completion of BLS within the first 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

Perform initial and ongoing systematic patient assessments.
Promote continuous quality improvement.
Teach and counsel patients and families.
Set goals and develop treatment plans.
Work cooperatively to identify and solve patient-specific and facility-wide needs.
Participate in discharge planning for each patient, including placement, patient and family education, and adaptive equipment.
Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants and PT and PTA students.
Conduct individual patient therapy regimens.
Monitor patients’ responses to treatment and modify treatment during sessions as needed.
Complete appropriate documentation according to department policies and procedures.
Participate in departmental, hospital, and community continuing education seminars and in-services.
