About The Position
Amedisys, part of the Optum family of businesses, provides home health, hospice, and community-based services. The Physical Therapist provides skilled physical therapy services to patients in their homes to promote mobility, restore function, improve strength and balance, and enhance safety and independence. The role works collaboratively with patients, caregivers, and an interdisciplinary care team to support recovery, prevent hospitalizations, and improve quality of life in the home setting.
Requirements
- Hold a current license to practice physical therapy in the state assigned.
- Graduate from a physical therapy educational program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
- Have at least 1 year of related physical therapy experience when entering home health care. Candidates with less than 1 year require approval from regional clinical leaders and appropriate mentoring and/or participation in a residency program.
- Hold current CPR certification.
- Pass a drug test before beginning employment.
Responsibilities
- Help patients maintain, restore, and improve movement, activity, and function.
- Provide interventions, conduct reexaminations at least every 30 days, modify interventions as necessary, and perform discharge planning.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
