About The Position

At Northbay Health, the Physical Therapist II is an independent clinician who provides professional physical therapy services in an outpatient setting using advanced clinical reasoning. The position serves as a resource to entry-level staff, provides clinical oversight of Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs), contributes to program development, and ensures high-quality patient care consistent with departmental and regulatory standards.

The Physical Therapist II performs evaluations and re-evaluations, develops and updates treatment plans, delivers evidence-based interventions, and maintains compliant electronic medical record documentation. The role also educates patients and caregivers, communicates with physicians and interdisciplinary stakeholders, mentors staff and students, and contributes to quality improvement and professional development activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy or equivalent from an accredited program.
• Current California Physical Therapy license.
• Current AHA or equivalent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Completion of all annual system and department requirements, including TB, Safety, HIPAA, and Infection Control requirements.
• Minimum of one year of professional Physical Therapy experience; advanced certification may be substituted for experience.
• Advanced competency in Physical Therapy musculoskeletal and neuromuscular evaluation and treatment techniques.
• Ability to independently manage a full outpatient caseload.
• Ability to meet attendance and punctuality standards.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach frequently, and to perform moderate lifting, pushing, and pulling of patients and equipment.

Nice To Haves

• Prior outpatient experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient physical therapy services during assigned shifts, including occasional weekend and holiday coverage as required.
• Perform initial evaluations and periodic re-evaluations and update treatment plans and goals in collaboration with physicians, as appropriate.
• Deliver evidence-based interventions tailored to the patient's diagnosis, learning needs, and age.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic medical record in accordance with departmental and regulatory standards.
• Educate patients and caregivers regarding therapy procedures, home exercise programs, injury prevention, and the safe use of assistive and adaptive equipment.
• Communicate with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, patients, families, and third-party payers regarding patient status and treatment progression.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to Physical Therapist I staff, Physical Therapist Assistants, and students.
• Contribute to program development, quality improvement initiatives, staff meetings, in-service education, and professional development activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of patient care and clinic operations.
