Under the direction and guidance of a licensed Physical Therapist, provides treatment to patients suffering from injuries, or muscle, nerve, joint and bone diseases, to improve/restore function, increase strength, relieve pain, and enhance functional independence. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served. The Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible for clinical and administrative duties. In addition, the Physical Therapist Assistant has the responsibility to maintain and upgrade his/her competencies based on the population served, the type and nature of the care provided and advances in healthcare sciences and technology.
