About The Position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Physical Collateral Examination Associate within Commercial Banking. This role is based in Southeast Idaho, Northern Utah, and Western Wyoming. The associate must live in the assigned territory or be willing to relocate, specifically within 30 minutes of Pocatello, Idaho, or Brigham City, Utah. In this role, you will participate in audits of floor plan inventory at various dealerships and companies, perform physical inspections of dealer inventories, and reconcile them with business records. You will review approval requests, ensure completion of operating and action measures, and inspect the physical existence of collateral, verifying borrower records against loan structures. You will receive direction from a supervisor for customer inquiries and disputes, reconcile discrepancies, and document details for inventory inspection results. The role involves assessing collateral conditions, reporting promptly and accurately to confirm the collateralized position, and collaborating with peers and managers to resolve issues. Building customer relationships through setting inspection expectations, answering questions, and providing support is key. You will also raise customer growth inquiries to commercial and portfolio teams. The position requires scheduling and routing daily travel to customer locations within an assigned geographic area, incorporating overnight stays for productivity. The associate performs physical inspections of commercial business inventories to assess their condition and provide prompt, accurate reporting to confirm their collateralized position. This may also involve responding to customer inquiries, documentation issues, billing errors, disputes, and program changes.

Requirements

  • 6+ months of Collateral Examination experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Must be willing to travel overnight up to 75% of the time
  • Ability to push/pull 50 pounds and lift 25 pounds
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to travel daily with 4 or more hours of driving per day
  • Reliable transportation for daily business travel
  • Must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance

Responsibilities

  • Participate in audits of floor plan inventory at various dealerships and companies
  • Perform physical inspections of dealer inventories and reconcile with business records through effective communications with account managers
  • Review approval requests and ensure completion of all operating and action measures within established timeframes
  • Inspect physical existence of collateral and verify the borrowers' records to determine adherence to approve loan structure
  • Receive direction from supervisor to ensure accurate responses on customer inquires and disputes
  • Reconcile discrepancies with the customer and document details to support final inventory inspection results.
  • Exercise judgment in determining the cause of discrepancies and disposing of any variances
  • Assess condition of collateral with prompt and accurate reporting to confirm the collateralized position
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
  • Build relationships with customers through setting inspection expectations, answering questions, providing support with payment systems and raising customer growth inquiries to our commercial and portfolio teams.
