About The Position

Introduction to and practice of evidence-based motivational and behavioural change counselling skills targeting physical activity adoption and maintenance. Theoretical perspectives: behavioural counselling approaches; self-determination theory, and social cognitive theory. Practical aspects: motivational interviewing, behaviour change techniques, cultural competencies and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

Requirements

  • Master's (or equivalent) in Human Kinetics (Sport Psychology) or related field.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a PhD in Human Kinetics (Sport Psychology) or in a field related to the course.
  • Experience teaching in a university setting is an asset.
  • An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
  • Employees are required under provincial law to successfully complete all mandatory legislated training.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to candidates with a PhD in Human Kinetics (Sport Psychology) or in a field related to the course.

Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for the lecture portion of the course.
  • 39 hours of teaching per semester
